Hailed as ‘a knockout’ by the  Philadelphia Inquirer, Kile Smith's  The Waking Sun  opens a window into that "otherness" waiting patiently for each of us while we tend to our daily existence. It's an ancient philosophy for the modern age. Carissimi’s Jephte, celebrated as one of the first masterworks of oratorio, is the ideal counterpart to Smith’s early music-inspired  tour de force.

Rebecca Myers

Soprano

Rebecca MyersPhiladelphia-based soprano Rebecca Myers is a soloist, collaborator, recording artist, and creator in high demand. Indulging and specializing in vocal repertoire, spanning from the Medieval to scores written especially for her, Rebecca has gained a reputation for her “timbral clarity and flawless pitch”, “nimble coloratura” and “vulnerability and grace”.

Ever ready to tackle a wide range of repertoire, Rebecca’s 2024–2025 season includes an exciting lineup of performances. Notable engagements include her debut with Portland Baroque Orchestra as soprano soloist in Handel’s  Messiah, appearances with Tempesta di Mare for their Christmas program featuring Italian Baroque cantatas, performances and a studio recording as soloist with Apollo’s Fire in Bach’s Mass in B Minor, and several appearances with highly acclaimed ensembles Seraphic Fire and The Crossing.

Last season Rebecca was featured in the world premiere and recording of Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg’s  Any of Those Decembers for four solo voices, string quartet, and piano with Lyric Fest. She also sang the role of Vagaus in Vivaldi’s rarely performed work Juditha Triumphans with Tempesta di Mare, and Telaire in Rameau’s Castor et Pollux (highlights) with Seraphic Fire. She appeared in two staged choral theater works with The Crossing, David T. Little’s Sin Eater (world premiere), and the reprise of Aniara abroad in both Stockholm and Helsinki.

In 2023, Rebecca was a featured soloist on the GRAMMY Award®-winning album  Born, recorded with The Crossing. That same year she made her New World Symphony Debut under the baton of Patrick Dupré Quigley as soprano soloist in Carmina Burana as well as her debut with Verità Baroque for the European premiere of Philip Lasser’s The Mask in the Mirror  at the historic Institute de France.

Rebecca is the Artistic Director, and a founding soprano, in the genre-bending, cutting-edge vocal chamber ensemble, Variant 6. In this leadership position, she curates programs of virtuosic and obscure works from all eras of history in new and surprising ways engaging artists throughout the country.

Rebecca has appeared on over twenty-five acclaimed commercial recordings with The Crossing, Variant 6, Seraphic Fire, Lyric Fest, and Lorelei Ensemble. She appears on two GRAMMY Award-winning albums (best choral performance 2018 and 2022) and eight GRAMMY Awar- nominated albums.
