Back Bay Chorale Appoints Executive Director
BOSTON, MA June 15, 2016 – Back Bay Chorale, a one-hundred-twenty member chorus performing in the Greater Boston area since 1973, has announced the selection of Garrett Murphy as its new executive director.
“The board and I are excited to welcome Garrett Murphy as our new Executive Director,” said Paul Rabin, Back Bay Chorale board president. “The appointment marks a major milestone in the fulfillment of our strategic plan, and provides an essential foundation for our continuing work to strengthen the Chorale.”
A vocal performance major from the Cleveland Institute of Music, Murphy currently heads up alumni giving and engagement at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts. He has held leadership positions with Savannah Music Festival and the Heifetz International Music Institute.
Artistic director Scott Allen Jarrett added his congratulations: “I couldn’t be more thrilled with the appointment of Garrett Murphy as the Chorale’s new Executive Director. An accomplished musician and arts leader, Garrett’s hire promises to advance and refine the Back Bay Chorale’s commitment to cultural leadership in our region and beyond. Personally, I’m thrilled to have a partner at the administrative level, and am truly excited for the work Garrett and I can accomplish together.”
Murphy commented, “It is an honor to be chosen to lead an organization with such a rich musical heritage and esteemed reputation into its next chapter.
