About the Concert
Mid-century to modern works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composers, including Samuel Barber, John Corigliano, and Caroline Shaw
Choral music is one of America’s richest contemporary art forms. From the 1940’s to today, this program offers works that will excite, challenge, and soothe the listener.
Hear traditional texts and tunes made new (Amazing Grace), and 20th-century poetry (Dylan Thomas, Robert Graves) brought to life in music. We are especially excited to present works by a new generation of composers, including Caroline Shaw and Dominic DiOrio. Bring an open mind and open ears, and be rewarded.
Dominick DIORIO (b. 1984) All Is
Samuel BARBER (1910-1981) Reincarnations
John CORIGLIANAO (b. 1938) Fern Hill
Morten LAURIDSEN (b. 1943) Mid-Winter Songs
Caroline SHAW (b. 1982) Fly Away I
David LANG (b. 1957) tell me, from battle hymns
Jennifer HIGDON (B. 1962) Amazing Grace, from Southern Grace
